I created a new type of wayfinding system to help students at the University of Michigan find the Angell Hall Planetarium. The Planetarium is unknown and hidden inside Angell Hall, and the current signage reflects the lack of knowledge about it and is confusing for students.
I wanted to create a new signage system that is distinct and playful and that allows students to get excited about the planetarium and engage with it more so than they would otherwise. In today’s day and age, I thought it was important to include Covid-19 signage that blends in with the current aesthetic of the rest of the signage, rather than just hanging up a piece of paper telling students to wash their hands.
